Basic Principles

Our company has always given high priority to data protection and data security both for our clients and for the general consumer. Accordingly, protecting your personal data during all our business processes is very important to us, and it goes without saying that we respect your personal rights in this respect. When you visit our websites we gather, process and use your personal data insofar as this is legally permissible or necessary for processing purposes or has been authorised by you. We store your personal user data, such as your name, address, date of birth, postal or email address, telephone number, etc. purely in order to execute the various services on offer. This applies if, for instance, you email us or use electronic means to submit a request for a self report, in which case we pass on the data to the relevant unit within our organisation. We do not use cookies, rather simply counting the number of page clicks and the time spent on each page. We then store these statistical details in anonymous form and analyse them in order to improve our offer and monitor the acceptance of individual webpages.

What data are saved?

When using some webpages, for instance when requesting a self report or information material, you will be asked to enter certain personal details, such as your name, address, date of birth, postal or email address, telephone number, etc. on the webpage in question. We need this information in order to provide you with the self report or information material you have requested. Without these details we would be unable to meet your request for a self report. The information may also be used subsequently to update the master personal data we have stored on you, for instance adding a middle name, place of birth, etc. If you do not wish to send us these details by electronic means you have the option of requesting your self report by post. To consult the addresses of SCHUFA offices select the menu item Consumer (Verbraucher) and click on Contact. If asked to enter personal details, rest assured that the data will be transmitted over the Internet in encrypted form by HTTPS and is thus protected from unauthorised third-party access.

How is the data used?

We gather, process and use personal data wherever necessary to perform the requested service, as well as in order to contact you as requested or make available to you the services or information you are seeking. Furthermore, if we use your personal details to update the SCHUFA database, for instance adding your middle name or date of birth, we may also use this data when providing SCHUFA services for our clients.

To whom will this data be made available?

We store all information you enter on these webpages on a server located in a country in the European Union (EU) and pass it on to the relevant units within our organisation so that they can process your enquiries and requests. If your personal data are used to update the SCHUFA database (see above), they may subsequently be made available to our clients when providing SCHUFA services. Information on stored data

If you have any further questions or comments concerning our data protection information please feel free to contact us. If you would like to be notified of the personal details on you held by SCHUFA you can request a self report. Naturally you will then be able to correct any mistakes, update any out-of-date information or delete stored data where there is no legal or other contractual reason for its storage. Furthermore, you are at any time entitled to withdraw, with future effect, any consent previously granted to your business partners to gather, process and use your personal data.

The regulatory authority responsible for data protection with respect to SCHUFA Holding AG is Darmstadt Regional Council (Regierungspräsidium Darmstadt).
