Every year, mathematicians, statisticians and analysts from the “Solutions“ department of SCHUFA Holding AG analyze over 400 million anonymous data sets on 65 million adult individuals specifically for Credit Compass. This database is unique in financial statistics and portrays a comprehensive picture of private credit activity in Germany.
Since the transitions between debt and over-indebtedness are fluid, one of the requirements is to determine reliable indicators. Using SCHUFA data on current loans and payment defaults, experts have therefore developed the risk model and private debt index (PDI).
Development of the PDI as a forecasting tool is unique in over-indebtedness research. The consequences for the quality of credit and over-indebtedness statistics in general are also very positive. To check the plausibility of certain results, the SCHUFA team regularly exchange information with scientists from various institutions who work empirically.
